A façade junkyard, a museum of appearances, Propland teems with things flimsy, fabricated and faked. Here is a stage for a revolving cast of institutions and developers, enlisting and excluding communities, as best fits their dreams.
Propland serves as a platform for writing, where the legacies of an area, an institution, and a building, can be taken up and configured in new ways. By reprogramming Television Centre, this collection of critical essays and speculative writings recounts less familiar histories, repurposing scenes we might have seen before, for worlds imagined otherwise.
